Pastor & Staff

Karen Renner

Bridge Pastor

Karen was born, baptized, and raised a Presbyterian. She holds a BA in Religion from Whitworth University, an M.Div. from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and was ordained by North Puget Sound Presbytery in 1994. While originally from California, Karen has claimed the Pacific Northwest as home since she moved here for college. She has a deep love for the people and geography of this region of the country.

Karen has served churches in Texas, Kansas, Oregon, and Washington, and is passionate about sharing God’s love with others and discovering what God is up to in the neighborhood. When she isn’t at the church, you can find Karen attending a Seattle Mariners baseball game, reading a good book, drinking a cup of dark roast coffee, engaging in conversation, or spending time with friends and family.

Karen is excited to be a part of Lacey Presbyterian Church and partnering in ministry with the congregation.

Ellen George

Worship Music Coordinator

Ellen and her husband Dan moved to Lacey in the Fall of 2020, and are grateful to find a church home at LPC in which to serve and worship. Ellen’s musical background in choral conducting, piano accompanying, and Church Music degrees in Music Ministry (MA) and Musicology (PhD), have prepared her for position as Worship Music Coordinator.

Her desire is to nurture stylistically diverse worship music as she engages LPC’s warm and grace-filled local body. She desires to cast wide the invitation to all who wish to serve in the music ministry, and is eager to meet with you. Contact her through the church office or at elleng@laceypres.org.

Ellen enjoys hiking, reading, singing in the Symphony Tacoma Voices, spending time with her two grown children, Katherine and Ben, and discovering the many parks and walking and biking trails in the Lacey/Olympia area.
Ellen is also Assistant Professor of Music at Pierce College, where she teaches a wide range of music courses.

Kevin Hutton

Technical Director

A lifetime member of LPC and a proud Evergreen grad, Kevin has 10 years of experience in audio, video and live production. Kevin has worked in various capacities for The Evergreen State College, TED, and the Devin Townsend Project. Going from volunteer to staff member at LPC has been an exciting journey, and he hopes to be a resource for everyone at the church, making sure our services run smoothly.

Rod Romberger

Church Business Administrator

Rod was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, living almost 60 years in Seattle before moving to the Lacey area with his wife, Sandy, in 2012.  Rod accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at age seven, serving God as he proceeded though life, including church bookkeeper, treasurer, Session Elder and now currently Church Business Administrator.  With God’s help, Rod earned a degree in accounting and over the years has attempted to use that education to help the church navigate through the financial ministry requirements.

Rod is a licensed Amateur Radio Operator, past co-chair of an emergency disaster preparedness council in his community and a previous handyman business owner offering low or no-cost services to customers with limited incomes.  Rod and his wife have three grandchildren and enjoy taking road-trips.
