PART-TIME PIANO/CHOIR ACCOMPANIST
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
General Job Description:
Lacey Presbyterian Church is seeking a skilled pianist to join our music ministry team. This part-time
role primarily supports the choir through weekly rehearsals and bi-weekly worship services. Strong
piano proficiency and experience accompanying choral ensembles are essential. The accompanist
works closely with the Choir Director and the Pastors.
Job Classification and Supervision.
This is a part-time position. Terms and conditions of employment for this position are set by the
Personnel committee of Session and follow the schedule of the church. This position reports to the
Choir Director and is overseen by the Worship Committee.
Necessary Skills and Qualifications:
1. Ability to play hymns and choir music of a variety of styles on the piano.
2. Willingness and ability to practice sufficiently to maintain a high quality of music.
3. Ability to work collaboratively with others.
4. Strong organizational and communication skills.
5. Experience with church music and strong sight-reading preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Accompany the choir at weekly rehearsals and at the 1st and 3rd worship services of the month.
2. Accompany congregational singing as needed for bi-weekly worship services.
3. Select and prepare preludes, postludes and other music for bi-weekly worship services.
4. Play as scheduled for special services TBD and extra rehearsals as required.
5. Give timely notice of all planned absences so appropriate arrangements can be made.
Compensation:
$25.00 per hour, paid twice monthly, for 7 hours per week.
Additional compensation is provided for weddings, memorial services, and other special events.
