The Beginning: The Perfect Home

At-home Resources for Kids

September 26: The Story and the Song  (Jesus Storybook Bible,  page 18)
Talk about these questions:
  • What did God do in order to create the world? What made it all happen?
  • When God created people, he said, "You're the most beautiful thing I've every made!" How does God feel about people? How does God feel about you?
  • Learn more about how God loves you; read Psalm 139 and Zephaniah 3:17.
Going Deeper with Older Kids...
Read in the Bible: Genesis 1-2
  • This story is about what God has done, but in it God tells us who we are as well. How does this story describe God's view of us?
  • How does God's love for us tell us who we are? (hint: "... because He loved them." The word 'because' always points to a connection, a result, a reason.)
  • What do we learn about Jesus in this story?  hint: Read John 1:1-3 when John calls Jesus "the Word." Where was the Word "in the beginning"? How does John describe the Word?
Praying the story...
Dear God, thank you for creating all the beautiful things around us. Thank you for creating me and loving me so much. Thank you God for all that you have shown us about creation, and about everything being made through Jesus, in the very beginning. We love you, God. Help me to love you as much as you love me.  In Jesus Name, AMEN
